About Jordanka Yaretz

I was born in Bulgaria and came to Canada in 1970. I started painting ever since I came to Canada. I am a self-thought artist working in Acrylics on canvas and watercolor paper. My paintings grace the walls of many private and corporate collectors around the world. My art has evolved from realistic portraits, animals and flowers, to naïve, whimsical scenes of my childhood memories and life in Canada, to Abstract and dramatic TREES. I am surrounded by the beautiful costal mountains of B.C. Canada and the changing colors of the trees. I have been featured in 5 local TV shows and one of my paintings appeared in the Chatelaine Magazine. Eight of my naïve paintings of children playing in the snow were reproduced into Christmas Cards by UNICEF. For the past seven years I have been painting a series of Mysterious TREES with human quality. My TREE paintings have become very popular with collectors around the world. Five of my TREE paintings have been used in TATTOOS, two paintings are on the cover of music CD's.

"Hi there!
I am an elementary art school teacher near Toronto, Ontario (with no art background other than what the internet has taught me) and I wanted to let you know that your beautiful work is the inspiration for me and my grade 1 and 2 artists!
I searched the internet for Canadian artists for my students to learn about and I was thrilled to find you! I know you are originally from Bulgaria (my parents were from Hungary) but many of my students have a European connection with their grandparents.
What really stood out for me was that you were self-taught. This was not only an impressive fact for my students but also an admirable one for me! That in itself inspired some of my little ones to try things at home too to perfect their skills!
Your beautiful pieces have inspired my little ones and I wanted to thank you for sharing your gift with the world!
